5 Things That Happened During Jakarta Film Week 2021
Jakarta Film Week 2021, an international-scale film festival initiated by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office, officially started on 18 November 2021 and ended on 21 November 2021. The Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan attended the opening of Jakarta Film Week 2021 and watched Ranah 3 Warna, the opening film. In his speech, he was sure that the hosting of Jakarta Film Week would encourage the growth of film activities in Jakarta. “Films are a spectacle and guidance can be a medium for us to explore new perspectives,” said Anies in his speech.
Films that premiered at the Jakarta Film Week include Ranah 3 Warna by director Guntur Soeharjanto, Just Mom by Jeihan Angga, Marapu, Fire & Ritual by Andrew Campbell, Kadet 1947 by Rahabi Mandra and Aldo Swastia, and Dari Hal Waktu by Agni Tirta.
International films that premiered in Indonesia were screened at the Jakarta Film Week 2021. Some of these films were Petite Maman, Black Box, Barbarian Invasion, Money Has Four Legs, Me and The Cult Leader, Shankar’s Fairies, Zero, Mang Jose, Luzzu, Souad, and Aline, The voice of Love.

The Jakarta Film Week seeks to become a forum for the development of the Indonesian film industry. It is hoped that the masterclass can become a training program for professionals in the film industry, with speakers who are experienced in the international film industry. On this occasion, Mmabatho Kau from Full Circle Lab and Sahana Kamath, senior in development and production for studios and networks, production companies, and OTT were present as keynote speakers for the Masterclass. In addition, there are Talks, a talk program with various innovative and experienced panelists to discuss cinema adaptation during and after the pandemic, as well as Community, a program that is aimed at expanding networks and exchanging knowledge with experts for the development of film projects and organizations.
